How do I get legal guardianship of a 14 year old girl?

Question Details:

I am needing to obtain guardianship of a14 year old girl. Her parents are divorced. Her dad has full custody and he lives in TX; her mom is in jail in TX. Do I need a certain form from one of her parents for this? Do I need a certain form signed by both parents or just the one with custody?

You may need to go back to court to obtain guardianship approval.  Is this temporary or permanent.   The court will need to be informed due to any conflicts or monetary issues arising out of any existing child support and child custody documentation.

In Texas, guardianship of children is handled through the probate court.  It is an actually very detailed set of laws and requires the action be brought in the county in which the child resides.
