I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  Leaving the scene of an accident is a serious charge and may resilt in jail time or loss of license and a large fine in excess of $500.  I suggest that you go to the police station with a lawyer to turn yourself in.  there is not a lot the lawyer can do for you at the police station, however, it will prevent the police from questioning you about the accident and keep it limited to a booking procedure and obtain a court date.  i suggest you obtain a lawyer for this charge if you can afford.

AttorneyPages has verified that this person is an attorney.

In Kansas, a driver charged with leaving the scene of an accident faces both criminal and civil liability. You can face jail, fines, loss of license and a civil lawsuit. Considering the implications, I would suggest you contact an attorney. In the meantime, avoiding making statements or signing anything until a lawyer has spoken with you. I handle these types of cases. Feel free to email me at sean@roadlawyer.net if you want to discuss this further.
