In Virginia, your criminal history must have been one of mistake.  In other words, you were found innocent, charges were dropped, someone stole your idenity, or you received an absolute pardon.

If you can find a criminal defense attorney to help you possibly receive an absolute pardon of the 10 year old conviction, then perhaps you may be able to obtain an expungement of your records.

Try www.attorneypages.com as one source to locate a criminal defense attorney and then check his or her record at the Virginia State Bar.

In terms of reduction of charges, that would have been done at the trial/pre-trial level.  Not now.
