I have a credit card that has been taken over by a law firm for collection, what is my recourse?

Question Details:

I have a credit card taken over by a law firm. I have made payment arrangements with them and they still call me a work. In the beginning I could have settled the debt for $3600 and now they are telling me if I do not settle before the end of the year I will have to pay 70% of the debt or $7000. They are telling me pay $500 now and the balance before the end of the year or else.

It doesn't sound like you made any final payment arrangements with them, or you didn't follow the ones you made.  If so, you have no recourse.  If you do settle with them, get it in writing.

You may be able to file bankruptcy.
