I have a citation for use of marijuana. nothing else. What are the possible punishments? & what should i say/do to get less of a punishment?
Question Details: I am under the age of 18 and female: I claimed it was my first time because I was extremely depressed, it was my first time and I consumed it for an escape of physical and mental release. I want to know what to do to get less of a punishment also, and what are the punishments? I COMPLETELY regret it and i plan to show the court I want the punishment (unless there is an other way to approach) -Thank you

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. The penalty for possession (assuming it is a small amount) is a fine in the $500 range. If you are a first time offender there are usually drug education programs that you can get into that will result in the charge being dismissed upon successful completion. I suggest hiring a lawyer and making the investment to making sure your record stays clean.
