What to do if I had a new heat pump/air handler installed during last winter but I can't get the company to complete the work?
Question Details: I had a new heat pump/air handler installed during last winter. On the install agreement the company recommended they return (5 months ago) as it warms up to get the A/C correct through the house and install the 2 additional vets upstairs. As of last month they had not cantacted me for the return trip. I have been calling since then and have been given 6 appointments with no-shows and excuses on why they did not show. They were paid in full at install during the winter; the remaining work is pre-paid. How do get them to complete the work?
You indicated that you hired a company to install a new heat pump/air handler, that they partially performed the services for which they were paid and have refused to keep their appointment(s) to complete the work. Basically, you have two options. You can either hire a different company to complete the work and then file suit against the first company for your expenses, as well as, the associated payment you made to the first company for the work they failed to perform. Your second option would be, obtain several written estimates to complete the work, then file suit against the first company for the amount you paid in which they failed to perform, incorporating the cost to complete the job based on your estimates. You may also be able to collect on additional expenses you incurred as a result of their failure to perform.
