I had a car accident, I was rear-ended. I got a lawyer for the case. He settled without including all the bills incurred. Who is responsible for them

Question Details: I offed to provide the bills I was receiving and the attorney stated that he would get the bills from the hospital, phys. therapy, etc. He settled without including or paying all the bills incurred. As a victim I was shorted approx. $650.00 and billed this amount. He settled one account for $150.00 and paid it himself but refuses to pay the $500.00 account that he failed to include. Not only did he cheat me out of the 650.00, he is causing damage to my credit by refusing to pay the $500.00.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  I suggest filing a grievance with the local bar that this lawyer is apart of as the lawyer did not do what he ws supposed to. however, ultimately, you are supposed to pay all medical bills.  usually, the settlement includes payment of the med bills.  i am not sure how this happened, but you need to make sure that this lawyer is sued for the money that you should not have had to pay had this lawyer done what he was supposed to do, especially if he knew about the medical bills in question.  if he did not know about the bills however, the lawyer is not to blame.
