I had a bankruptcy discharged in 2005. Just recently a creditor has started pressuring me to pay off a bill that was discharged.
Question Details: I showed them the discharge paperwork with their account listed in 2006, they are now sending me letters t pay off the loan.
I'd send them a letter, certified mail with return receipt requested, stating the fact of the discharge, with a copy of the paperwork attached, and ask them to stop harassing you. Have the letter say, very politely, that you do not waive your rights under any law about collection practices or credit reporting, and that you will ask a court to enforce your rights if this letter doesn't end the matter.
And if that doesn't do it, take a copy of the letter and the discharge paperwork to a lawyer, because this is entirely wrong on the creditor's part.
