Giving false Title 39 (motor vehicle) information to a police officer exposes you to 2C:29-3b(4), Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution. Depending on the circumstances, this could be a DP (disorderly persons offense), a 4th degree crime or even a 3rd degree crime. Insofar as your operation of a car that had no insurance, keep in mind that you're the one driving this car even though it is owned by your boyfriend and he failed to have it properly insured. Again, however, it's not your car, so it's also not your responsibility to buy insurance for it. Much, if not most, of the circumstances in your case are subject to negotiation with the prosecutor.
