i got in to an accident and i didn't have insurance.
Question Details: i go in to an accident with no insurance. The insurance of the other driver called and demanded that i pay the whole sum for the damages. i havn't had much money to but insurance,. its eat or have insurance. i had to survive. now im talking it over for monthly payment but i still don't know how things are going to go. whats the usual steps to getting over this. im 22 and now its going to be even harder to grip on surviving. please help with any positive information. i feel 6 feet deep.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. You can tel the person that is coming after you that they can take your payments that you can make or you will not pay and make the driver sue you. if the driver sues you and gets a judgment, you can then file for bankruptcy and get the judgment/obligation to pay discharged and you will not have to pay. the bankruptcy filing will hurt your credit for a few years but you will not owe the money. You can also try to get a loan from someone to pay the friver and then pay the person back over time to the stress.
