DUI / DWI Law Answers

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  Usually states have programs for first time offenders that permit them to take alcohol education classes and the charges get dismissed.  I suggest that you hire a lawyer as you want to make sure such a program is available it one exists and you want to make sure you can get the charges dismissed if you can to keep your perfect record in tact.

If money is an issue see if you qualify for representation by the Public Defender or Legal Aid.  Possibly they can get he charge thrown out on t technicality or at least have the charges reduced.  Many times law schools run legal clinics that handle these type of cases for free/low cost.

Otherwise, as my colleague has suggested, try to get into a first time offender program.  This type of alternative sentencing will enable you to clear your criminal record afterward.
