What to do if I was forced to quit because I was treated unfairly?
Question Details: My former employer never gave breaks. When I was hired it was for full time. I had a friend die and had to go to the wake. Afterwards my hours got cut from a full week of work to 3 days a week. Near the end of my job the boss yelled at me telling me I don't do anything. This was a bowling alley and I was a pin setter. The boss wanted me to also babysit the kids in the front. Not something I thought was in my job description. I also was not comfortable with bossing around children. I ended up quitting because it was a hostile work environment and my hours were cut so bad.
Probably not. With respect to cutting your hours and having you babysit kids, I don't think that is actionable in any way. With respect to not giving you breaks, Pennsylvania does not have any laws mandating you receive lunch breaks etc if you are 18 or over. I'm assuming the job wasn't unionized, so there would be no union contract provisions that might have called for breaks. Bottom line, it does not look like you have any case against your former employer.
