I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  You no longer own the car even though you are repaying the loan.  the lender is the creditor not the car dealer, unless the lender is the car dealer.  if the lender is a random other credit company then you will not be able to get the car back as it is already in the dealer's possession.  however, if the deal is the lender, you may be able to negotiate to get it back.  however, i do not think that you will be able to get the car back based on your credit history now.
