I'd like to add to my question. Aren't I violating the privacy of my email contacts?

Question Details:

If I were to turn over my customers email addresses, isn't this a violation of their privacy? I promised a lot of my customers I would not violate the privilege of having their contact information. I told the gallery I would be happy to forward the invitation to my customers, but would not hand over their email addresses. Would not the gallery be spamming my customers? Most email lists guarentee that your information will not be sold or given out.

If you have in fact guaranteed or made represenatations to your customers that you will not give out their email addresses, then yes, you will need to honor your reprensentations.

It would not be spamming if you did/could turn the list over. The gallery would be sending out invitations to customers of yours for a show at which you would be present, and you customers have been you you permission to contact them. While the contact would be facilitated through the gallery, it is no more spam than if you contacted these people yourself for  the show.
