What to do if I bought a car from a mechanic 3 weeks ago and now it's no longer running?
Question Details:
I bought a car from the mechanic about 3 weeks ago for $900. Afterwards I had to spend over $300 extra to get additional work performed. Before I got the last bit of work done on the car, the engine shutdown on the freeway.
Under the laws of all states in this country, if youpurchased a car "as is" without any warranties and there are subsequent problems with it, you have no recourse against the seller. The only exception would be if the seller knew of problems with the vehicle before the sale and failed to disclose such to you.
Proving such is hard based upon my experience in such matters. I suggest that you speak with the mechanic that you bought the car from to see if he or she might be willing to refund you some portion of the purchase price.
