If I applied for the deferred action for childhood arrivals and did my biometrics 5 months ago, does it affect the process in any way if I had a misdemeanor?

It really depends on the nature of the misdemeanor and what the outcome of that action was.  You would need to consult with an immigration/criminal attorney to see what the impact could be, if any.  In the meantime, if you had filed everything correctly with the DACA, you should be getting a decision from USCIS shortly.
