If I am the only a beneficiary of my mother's term life insurance policy, will the insurance company notify the IRS that I will be receiving this money?

I am so sorry for your loss.  Generally speaking, the money that one receives as a result of being the beneficiary of a life insurance policy is not included as income to the recipient of the payout (that would be you).  If there is some other reason that you are asking this question - like a tax lien or levy - please write back.  Good luck.
