If I am paying a car note for a car that has the wrong VIN and year, what can I do?
Question Details:
If the payments that you are making for a vehicle has a promissory note that has the wrong v.i.n. and year for the vehicle, is registered title in your name? Does the presumed purchase contract have the correct v.i.n. and year for the vehicle? If so, then there really much of a problem with the situation you are writing about.
If title is in your name, all you need to do is have a new promissory note drafted and signed referencing the mistake in the prior note and attaching it as an exhibit.
All future payments under the note presumably by check should reference the correct v.i.n. and year of the car. Keep a copy of the checks for future reference and need.
