Employment and Labor Law Answers

The short answer is that you cannot get in trouble for this as far as the state is concerned.  however, you may not be entitled to the benefits that you are receiving.  however, if you are not making much money on the side or you were able to maintain this business as well as work for your employer on your regular schedule, you may not have to worry.  I suggest that you tell your lawyer representing you in your worker's comp case (if you have one) about the business and explain the nature of it and the money that you make so that he can determine whether there are any issues.  If you do not have a worker's comp lawyer, i suggest hiring one as they are likely able to get you more money than you can based on the statute, which many people do not know about.
