i am being told that,in Florida, the life insurance policy is not considered money, and not to go to me but to the person whos name is on the policy

I don't know exactly what you mean when you say that "the life insurance policy is not considered money".  Are you a beneficiary or heir to an estate?  If so, the life insurance proceeds do not pass through probate; they are not considered to be an assets of the estate.  They are directly payable to the named beneficiary of the policy.
