What to do if I'm being sued for an old debt that was charged off over 2 years ago?
Question Details: It was for approximately $2200 plus interest. I received the papers last night. It is not from the original credit grantor but shows an assignor and an attorneys name. I am not sure what steps to take now. I do not want it to go into default judgement but cannot afford an attorney or to pay the debt in full.

charge off does not mean that you do not owe the debt. if it is legitimate, work out a payment plan you can afford with the lawyer, or you could file abnkruptcy if you have enough other debt.
