I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  I suggest that you contact the lawyer for the credit card company and talk about entering into a settlment where you pay the card off at a compromisd amount less that what is owed over time.  the creditor should agree to this arrangement.  You can explain that you are contemplating filing bankruptcy and that this is the best and only alternative you have if this is true.  i also suggest trying to make a lump sum payment for a compromised amount to avoid making month payments if you can.  Otherwise, negotiate a monthly payment plan.  the lawyer will work with you.
