I am 23 and am wondering whether or not I might be able to sue my father for childhood sexual abuse and emotional battering.

Question Details: As a young child, my mother placed me in therapy w/o my father's knowledge & I came forward w/sexual abuse allegations. We filed a criminal case, but did not have sufficient physical evidence & my father was granted visitation. I was forced to see him. Throughout my childhood, he emotionally battered and manipulated me, and blamed me for destroying his reputation. When I was 12, a lie detector test indicated that he had abused me in some way. Into my young adulthood, he has used money as a mode of manipulation and shifting the power structure in our relationship.

It might be difficult, because the three-year statute of limitations on personal injury actions is going to be a problem for you here.  In most cases, you have to file a lawsuit within three years after you know that you've been hurt by someone, or it's too late.  I very much doubt that the "guts" of your complaint will include much from within the last three years.

However, there are some exceptions, and some ways to get around the statute of limitations in certain cases.  Your situation might be one of them, and you should look for an experienced, aggressive and creative attorney to review the detailed facts of your case.
