Appeal the decision to deny your benefits.  Most companies give benefits after the appeal.  Also, you should get checked out by a doctor following your exposure.  If you have medical issues or something that prevents you from returning to work because of the exposure, you may be able to make a workers compensation claim.  You may also be able to sue your employer for worker's compensation retaliation.  It will depend on what was said after you fell in the whole.
