How would stop paying my credit cards affect my husband?

Question Details: We have a home in his name, a joint checking account, no car payment, but all the major credit cards are in my name. I do not work so I have no income. What, if anything , could credit card companies touch, such as garnishing my husbands wages etc.

If you stop paying on your cards they could garnish your wages but not his.  Actually, if you have no joint assets there isn't really anything that they could do to him (same holds true if you were to file for a bankruptcy in your name alone).

Note: Since the bank account is a joint asset, your husband should have his name taken off that account and open a new one solely in his name.
