Question Details: I want to start a freelance site where I accept the payment on behalf of the freelancer, take my cut, and send the difference to the freelancer. What sort of legal details should I be aware of for reporting my activities to the government?

This is a very technical and complex area of the law. There are several statues involved on both the state and federal level. You really need to consult with an attorney in your area on this; he/she will best be able to advise how to keep your company from violating any of them.
