How much is my spouse liable for my past and previous ( before we were married) and current medical bills in the state of Oregon?

Question Details: Having fall on economic times and collecting unemployment I am not able to pay some medical debt that has gone into collections. Now they are attempting to collect from my wife. Is this legal? and or are there circumstances that could not have her be liable i.e. she never took my last name......

Your wife doesn't have any liability for bills from before your marriage.  However, if she puts her money into a joint account with your name on it, your creditors can reach some of it.  It would make sense for her to keep her money in a separate account.  This makes much more of a difference than whether or not she took your last name.
