How much does it cost to get a divorce?
Question Details: If nothing is in play like legal property, and rights to money and other, just a plain divorce with nothing involved no kids, property or material things.
The filing fee in Florida is $408.00 in most jurisdictions and an additional $10.00 to issue the summons. Those are the costs involved for all dissolution cases. Generally, there is also the cost of service of process which averages about $30.00. And if the matter is truly uncontested and you would like for my office to draft all of the required paperwork, file all necessary paperwork for you, schedule the required hearing(s), and appear at the Final Judgment hearing to assist you in finalizing your divorce, I typically do those types of cases for a flat fee, generally around $1,500.00 (in addition to the costs, so for about $2,000.00 to include everything).
My office offers free telephone consultations, if you would like to discuss your matter further so that we can also determine if it is truly uncontested or possibly partially contested. If you would like to schedule a free initial telephone consultation, please contact my office at 407-971-6140.
The going rate for competent counsel is in the $2,000+ range.
I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. I think that you can probaly get it done for under $500 if all you have to do is pay court fees to file the case. Or you can file a noncontested divorce where both parties sign a document that ends the marriage with no alimony or anything. I suggest that you speak to a lawyer before filing to to make sure you know what you are giving up and the options that you have.
