How long after you hit someones car do they have to claim the accident before you don't have to pay for it?

In Texas, the statute of limitations for a car accident case is two years.  If someone fails to file a suit within that time period, their rights to recovery are lost forever.  There are, however, some circumstances where the deadline can be extended, such as temporary absence from the state, fraudulently concealing your identity, etc.
