Time to bring charges
Question Details:
How long after a crime is committed does the DA have to charge you, until it is too long and they no longer can?
It depends on what you are being charged with. Most criminal offenses need to be brought within 5 years or so. If not charged by then, a person cannot be charged because of something known as the Statute of Limitations" (that is the time limit in which charges must be filed).
At this point you really need to consult with a criminal attorney as to the Statute of limitations for the specific crime involved.

Are you a lawyer?
