How is it possible for an ex-wife to claim a child on her taxes when it says in our divorce papers that I claim one and she claims the other?

Question Details:

I have tried to file my taxes twice already this year and the IRS has rejected them stating my daughter has been claimed by her mother and in our divorce papers I am to claim her and my ex is suppose to claim our son. What is the purpose to have divorce papers if she don't follow them??

If your divorce order says so then why not go to court to enforce it? If she claims both then you are overpaying child support, assuming you are paying.
