Child support in New York continues until the child reaches the age of majority (21) or is emancipated by operation of law. ie military, marriage, full time employment, court order. The amount that is paid is based on percentages. One child is 17% up to the first $80,000 of combined parental income. However, courts generally go above the statutory cap.

Child support continues until age 21 unless sooner emancipated.  Typically, by agreement, however it does continue until age 22 if the child is enrolled full time in school.  I am a New York family law attorney.  Give me a call if you want to discuss the matter.  It would be my pleasure to speak with you about the case.  Darren M.
