How do I secure my legal rights inside my home and my parents properties and assets since I am an adopted child?

Question Details: I am legally adopted.My parents are both old & sickly.Mom is a stroke victim,bedridden & can't speak.My dad has senile dementia.My reatives from both sides of my parents don't like me.I doubt if my parents were able to make a last will & testament for my protection.Other peopkle are running the show,my dad's nephews/nieces,our housemaid feels she's now the owner of the house & badmouths me to other people.I feel like an outsider & a stranger in my own home.My dad sides with his relatives & the maid since they were able to control him because of his senility.What do I need to do?

If you are legally adopted, you are the child.  Therefore, you are the one legally entitled to run the show.  If you are worried about the problem of family members to take advantage of the situation, your best bet (what I would do) is to contact an attorney to see if a) there happens to be some sort of directive in place already and b) to possibly file documentation to keep them away.

Basically, you want to ensure they are well taken care of and typically you as the child get the first stay.
