How do I handle a motorcycle shop that has been fixing my bike for the last 12 months?
Question Details: I took a motorcycle in to a local shop. I knew the problem but couldn't fix it myself. I spoke to the owner he said he would check it out and did. I received a call a few weeks later and he confirmed the problem. I told him to fix it and that i would pay for it. I did not receive a call for 2 months. I called and they said they were waiting for parts, I asked to be called when finished. Then 2 months later no call received. I called again still waiting for parts and asked to be called when finished. This has gone on for eleven and a half months the only change is I call much more frequently.
You need to take your motorcycle elsewhere. Do not pay the motorcycle mechanic any monies and indicate that it should not have kept your bike this long if a) it could not fix it or b) locate the part. File a consumer complaint against the shop once you have the bike out of there. Usually this is done through your local prosecutor's office or the state attorney general. This should make the shop get its act together for future customers.
