First of all, read the divorce judgment and see if there is anyting stated regarding the auto loan.
If the judgment requires your ex to refinance, then tell them that and if he fails to, file a request to find him in contempt.
If the judgment is silent as to the auto loan, then crack this up as a life lesson and politely ask him to refinance--knowing that you can't force him to.
A common mistake made by divorcing couples without attorneys is failing to force the refinance of automobiles in their judgment.
