I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. The state's attorney is the opnly one that change the charges. I sugest that you hire a lawyer to try to work a deal with the state to discuss a resolution where you admit fault to a lesser included offense such as disorderly conduct. Before you concede this however, you should try to find out if you can do community service or make a charitable contribution in exchange for a nolle. If you cannot afford a lawyer, you should talk to the state yourself and explain that you are trying to resolve this and you would appreciate anything that they can do to avoid charging you with the more serious offense.

Are you a lawyer?
