How do I apply for a job or have something removed from my record with a felony that occurred over 10 years ago?

Question Details: I was convicted of a felony for a car that my friend did an insurance scam with the car. I did try to get the car back but ultimately had to report it stolen. I was found guilty and received probation, community service and restitution. I paid the restitution, did the community service & probation. That all ended over 6/7 yrs ago. Now I am looking for a new job after being laid off from a job after 19 yrs & it's hard. Can I have this expunged or ask for a pardon? That was the 1st & only time I have been in any type of trouble. I really need help so I can support my family.

you may be eligable for an expungement where you could legally sate that you had not been convicted or pled guilty to a crime.  Countact you local Superior Court house , Ask to talk to someone about expungements. Or contact an attorney.  Each case is different and whoever you talk with will need very detailed information.

You need to look into the possibility of an expungement, 2C:52-1 and especially 2C:52-2. Generally, ten (10) years must elapse between the time that you completed your probation, restitution and community service and the time that you may apply for an expungement. There are other conditions, as well. Contact me at either (732)932-7226 (office) or (732)710-0004 (cell).
