Question: Real Estate - California

Asked on 10/25/2009
How do I add my boyfriend onto the title of the house that we purchased together but that only has my name on the title?
We have equally split all the costs of the purchase of the house as well as all the monthly payments since purchase. We would like to make sure that if anything happens to me (only name on title), his interest in the property would be secured.

AttorneyPages has verified that this person is an attorney.

A real estate attorney can assist you with a change in title.   There could be some issues with the mortgage company if you do that.   That could be a breach of the note.  It is best to consult with an attorney before you change title.
