How can I get out of a lease I signed about a week or so ago?

Question Details: I moved from NY to FL on the 1st of this month. My friend who already lives in FL found the place, and I signed a faxed copy of a lease. Upon my arrival, I found that the apartment is in an unsafe neighborhood, and is infested with fleas. I am willing to sacrifice my already cashed checks totalling $1800 for the last 10 days of my stay. I just want to leave this **** hole legally, and without a huge financial burden. My credit score is way above average, and I'd like to keep it that way. What are my options, as far as leaving this unsafe, and unhealthy environment? Please help...

Read your lease for a termination clause. Get a letter from Department of Health regarding flea infestation. Call your LL to see if you can work something out.
