How can I get one state to release my license to another?
Question Details:
I have lived in LA for the past 10 years. I left FL to care for my dying father. I had a suspended license for a DUI when I left. I did a in-patient substance abuse center 28 day program for problem drinking. I have a history with alcohol but had a drink for 8 years. I cannot get my CDL reinstated in LA due to my pending situation in FL and a release to LA. My life depends on having a license. I'm 56 years old and a disabled veteran on disability. No one wants to hire me. I'm at my wits end with no hope in sight. Can you help steer me in the right direction to clear this matter up? I have limited income but will do what's necessary if I can.
Unfortunately, you will need to go to Florida and clean up your suspension. At this point, it may only be paying a suspension removal fee, or it may have additional requirements. Until that is cleared up, you will not be able to have a clean license in your home state. You may want to contact an attorney in Florida to determine whether they may clear it up without you having to appear in Florida.
