House owned by wife before marriage but refinanced by wife after husband finishes basement

Question Details: Wife refinanced house after marriage-husband not on refinance. Husband contributed to all expenses and spent 2 1/2 years finishing off basement. Is husband entitled to half of all equity or just half of equity created by finishing off basement. We got married 2 1/2 years ago and I moved in with her in her existing house, I finished off basement and garage with the understanding we would sell and buy a larger house after finishing

You may be entitled to the increase in the value, if any, created by the improvements made to the home. This would require expert testimony from a real estate appraisor that the work did increase the value.
