Hit a metal school gate, which hit a trash can of the school and the trash can fell on a student who was walking on the side walk under supervision

Question Details: Today morning I was dropiing my son to school and in the drivethru of the school I was driving at 10mph and took a very careful but sharp turn and banged against the school gate pole which shook the school trash can placed on the sidewalk of the school and the can fell on a student who walking ont he side of the school near the trash can. My car didnt hit the boy directly nor did it hit the trash can. Will i be penalized by his parents. The boy was hurt in his stomach by the trash can and he was in class after school authorities checked on him in thier office?

Since the trash can hit the boy as a direct result of your actions (your car hit the gate pole; the pole knocked over the can; it was a direct chain of cause and effect), you may be liable for the boy's injuries if sued.
