Question Details: an old power line with approx. 15 splices in it broke for no reason. my 6yr old labordor retriever valued between 4 and 6 thousand dollars was killed on contact. i have contacted power co. and made a damage claim and am waiting on result. i believe i am entitled to be compensated to value of dog. if so what rights do i have and should i try to negotiate on the price they offer me. i live in louisiana. thanks
The power company is responsible for faulty lines within its control and thus responsible for the damages those faulty lines cause. However, was the line modified by someone else? Who put the splices in the line? If they are completely responsible for the faulty line, then they owe you full damages for the dog. I have made a claim against Entergy before and was only successful by taking them to court. You may have to take them to court to get the full amount.
