If I have a bench warrant for a traffic ticket in one county but also have a court date for my child support in a different county, will the warrant show up at the hearing?
Question Details:
It's either I pay for a lawyer at the child support hearing or I take care of the bench warrant for my FTA for the traffic violations and go to the child support hearing solo, or pay for a lawyer for the child support hearing and hope my warrant does not show up.
This will all depend on how the Court System is set up in your State and or County. Typically, anyone who runs a criminal lien whether it be a court, police, sheriff or bailiff, will be able to see if there are open warrants for you in their system. In most cases however, child support court operates separately from criminal traffic court, so the two courts may not communicate with each other directly for the one to know about warrants of another. My advice is to speak with a lawyer and see what his/her fee would be to represent you on both matters. Lawyers will typically give a discount in fee if you retain them to handle multiple matters. Good Luck.
