If the warrants are out of NY- then you want to use a NY lawyer. It's very rare, however, for California to extradite on a misdemeanor warrant. Of course it makes sense to clear these things up, especially if you want to travel to NY.

You need a NY attorney to help you with this. You can try a law school in NY, typically they run free/low cost clinics. Additionally, see if your income qualifies you for representation by the PD or Legal Aid. Also, you can contact the County Bar Association in the county where the charges against you were filed. They may have a list of attorneys who handle cases "pro bono"; that is for free.
One thing is for sure, you need to take care of this; warrants don't expire. Getting stopped for even jay-walking could turn them up and you could then be taken into custody. At the very least, an employment background check could disclose all of this.
