Fundraiser Fraud by grandmother of our son with ALL (Leukemia)

Question Details: My husband's mother and grandmother raised $300 by saying the money would go to our son. He never recieved the money because he was sick and was unable to meet up with them when they were in town. Is there a way for them to be prosecuted without us suing them? I am still finding out more facts from family members who helped them raise the money.

Can you get the money now?  If not, if this was a public fundraising, you can report this to the police because it is fraud.  You can also sue them for the money and your expenses in small claims court (because there is not enough money involved to go beyond a small claim).  Since this is a family matter, you might want to talk this out before going to the law--but if it can't be solved by family mediation, you do have the above options.
