Foreclosure. Motion for more time.

Question Details: I have a sale date coming up in a few days. I am trying to figure out what I can do to stop it so that I can figure out my best course of action. I had been dealing with my mortgage company thinking we were about to reach an agreement. Then I was told on Friday that there is no way to do it. My sale date is Tuesday! Thank You.

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  Once the case goes to judgment and there is a sale date it is very difficult to get it postponed.  Have you tried to do a mortgage modification?  a mortgage modification is where the bank works with you to reduce the interest rate to allow you to get back on track with payments.  I suggest that you ask the bank whether this is a feasible alternative to a foreclosure sale of the property.  I also suggest contacting a lawyer to review the court papers and try to see if there is anything you can do to save the property.  most lawyers will talk to you the first time for free.
