Can I be fired from a church for dating?

Question Details:

I work in administration for a local church. The contract that I signed when I started working for them says that if I have unmarried sex with someone then I will be fired. I was also verbally told that if I'm even living with someone regardless whether or not we're sleeping together, I  would be fired. Is this something that I can be legally fired for? I fear that even if it wasn't legal they would still find another way to fire me or lower my hours which I really can't afford, so I'm stuck at the moment.

Employees at will may be fired for good bad or simply no reason at all.  This sounds like a very unusual situation to be in and does not make any sense.  However, the church is not forcing you to work for it and you are not subject to a criminal violation for not abiding by these rules.  If you signed a contract agreeing to these terms then you are in effect bound by them to the extent that you want to continue to work for the church.  I understand that you do not have a lot of options here, but you are going to risk your job or you are going to make a sacrifice for money and make sure you comply with the contract.  WHile this may not be a fair contract or make any sense, you must obey the rules if you want to keep your job.
