Falsification of a legal document

Question Details:

What are the legal ramifications of falsifying information on a death certificate? If a person who is a stepchild and knows there are biological children places their name as next of kin, how would you go about changing it?

I am not sure that what happened constitutes a criminal offense.  The relationship does have some validity.  Nevertheless, you can indeed apply to change the death certificate.  It is done by the department of heath and through the division of vital records.
