Failure to call 911 on a **** overdose resulting in a death

Question Details: I want to know if a person can be held responsible for a **** overdose death because they refused to call 911. The girl overdosed on his methadone and he knew she took the full 200mg.He tried to wake her up with ice cold water and slapping her after he got a neighbor to check for a pulse. The neighbor felt a faint pulse around 3am and told him he needs to call 911.He was in a small motel room with her for over 12 hours before walking a mile to a friends house at 8:30am. The friend went to the motel room and started CPR while calling 911. The girl was already dead.

Wrongful Death - Accidental Death Law Answers

I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law.  It appears that there may be a charge here based on the failure to render aid.  The guy may also be criminally responsible as well if he gave the girl the drugs/refused to help.  However, what are you looking to collect if you sue for wrongful death?  does this person have some sort of insurance policy to cover him?  Is the person wealthy?  Are you just looking to get a judgment and force the guy to pay it off the rest of his life or until he declares bankruptcy?  I suggest reporting it to the police.
